“Ways of Thinking in Architecture” consists of three thematic chapters followed by a synthesis phase:
1. Architectural Competitions – Evaluation and Decision-Making: Conceptual and visual readings of international competitions and awarded projects; construction and weighting of evaluation criteria; discussion of architectural judgment through jury simulations.
2. Architectural Approaches – Conceptualization and Position-Taking: Examination of selected modern and contemporary architectural positions through comparative theoretical problems, short readings, student presentations, and panel discussions rather than isolated architect profiles.
3. Cinematography and Space – Perception, Representation, and Interpretation: Analysis of selected film scenes through sequence, movement, threshold, frame, light, sound, scale, material, body, and atmosphere.
4. Synthesis – Architectural Thinking Position: Students connect the concepts, criteria, and interpretations developed throughout the semester to construct a personal “Architectural Thinking Map” and defend it orally.
The course supports active and inquiry-based learning through discussion, comparative reading, workshops, peer review, short reflective writing, and visual/oral production.
